LOS ANGELES (AP) — Adele will share custody of her 8-year-old son and won’t be paying child support to her now-ex-husband Simon Konecki, according to divorce documents obtained Wednesday by The Associated Press.
The couple separated in August of 2019, and Adele filed for divorce the following month. A Los Angeles judge finalized the divorce last week.
According to the documents, the 32-year-old Adele and the 46-year-old Konecki used mediation to amicably reach the terms of the split. Both waived the right to seek spousal support, and both agreed to joint legal and physical custody of son Angelo, who was born in 2012. The papers say they will seek to resolve any issues without litigation.
Adele kept her original legal name, Adele Adkins, during her marriage.
The British singing superstar married Konecki, co-founder of Life Water, an eco-friendly brand of bottled water, in May of 2018, according to court documents. But she referred to him as “my husband” during a Grammy acceptance speech in 2017, and the two had been a couple for several years when they wed.
The songstress’ last album, “25,” was released in 2015, and fans have been anxiously awaiting the drop of another. But Adele’s been mum on when it might finally arrive. On her birthday in 2019, the singer committed to taking some time for herself in an Instagram post.
“31 is going to be a big ol’ year and I’m going to spend it all on myself,” she wrote. “For the first time in a decade I’m ready to feel the world around me and look up for once.”

Last October, Adele made a rare public appearance on NBC’s “SNL” — not as the musical guest, but as the host. In her sweet, funny monologue, Adele addressed matters relating to her “SNL” appearance and to her weight loss.
“I know there’s been a lot of chatter about me just being the host. I’ve seen all of that. Like, why isn’t she the musical guest?” she said. “There’s a couple of reasons. My album’s not finished and I’m also too scared to do both. I’d rather just put on some wigs … have a glass of wine or six and just see what happens.”
As for her changed appearance, the British singer joked: “I know I look really, really different since you last saw me, but actually because of all the COVID restrictions and the travel bans, I had to travel light and only bring half of me. And this is the half I chose.”
